As promised, Nintendo has marked down a wide variety of Switch games and accessories at Amazon, Best Buy, and Walmart, as well as its own digital storefront. Its “Customer Appreciation” sale is happening because of tariff-related refunds it received from the US government, and it ends on September 26th at 8:59 PM PT.
Nintendo games and accessories tend to stick close to their list price, so it’s nice to have some big discounts, especially this far ahead of the holiday season. Some of the company’s best titles for the original Switch are significantly marked down, with a few Switch 2 titles thrown in, too. The most notable inclusions include the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe digital bundle with the Booster Course pass for just under $60 (Amazon, Nintendo), The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for $49 (Amazon, Nintendo, Best Buy), and Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the DLC for $60 (Nintendo). The Switch 2 Editions aren’t currently discounted, but upgrade packs are fairly affordable, costing $9.99 for the Tears of the Kingdom (Amazon) or $4.99 for Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Amazon).
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom (Physical)
Tears of the Kingdom is the latest mainline installment in the Zelda franchise. The storyline and gameplay are similar to Breath of the Wild’s, but enough has changed to make Link’s return to Hyrule plenty special. Read our review.
The Alarmo takes dozens of characters and scenes from classic Nintendo franchises and places them in a charming alarm clock that’s designed to help you sleep and wake. It uses motion sensors to detect whether you’re still in bed and gets more aggressive the longer you sleep in.
The Switch Pro released alongside the Switch console in 2017, and it’s a tough controller to beat. It offers an unmatched set of features (HD rumble, motion controls, NFC), and it’s one of the most comfortable Switch controllers out there.
Metroid Prime 4 is still a first-person adventure game like prior entries in the series, but this time around, bounty hunter Samus Aran is armed with a motorcycle and a slate of psychic powers. Not all of the new gameplay elements work, but Beyond is a fitting follow-up to what came before, with a lore-heavy story, great combat, and plenty of eerie exploration.
Explore the mysteries of an abandoned civilization in this 3D platformer for the Nintendo Switch. It’s still a Kirby game, with a delightful tone that had us smiling the whole way through. Read our review.
Super Mario Odyssey is one of the crowning achievements of the original Switch thanks to its tight platforming, ingenious level design and a game mechanic that lets you control certain enemies and parts of the environment. There are still bosses to battle and coins to collect, but Odyssey feels like a breath of fresh air.
Splatoon 3 is proof that Nintendo isn’t done showing off its take on an online shooter—with paint instead of bullets, of course. The game looks great, and has a single player mode that fills out the series’ lore through scrapbook pages you find while navigating and shooting your way through each level. Online multiplayer remains Splatoon’s 3’s big draw, so be prepared to square off against fellow squid kids. Read our review.
The mobile version of Playerunknown's Battleground has become nothing sort of a sensation with over 20 million daily active users from all around the globe. It has been well received in India too, since the country was amongst the top three when it comes to the most number of players in Season 2 of the game. Now, the YouTuber, Ashish Chanchlani has published a new video that is based on his own experience while playing the game and most Indian PUBG Mobile players will find something that they can relate to in it. Titled “PUBG : Ek Game Katha,” the video will take you through an entertaining set of events. It has gone viral with over 10.5 million views under 24 hours. You can watch the video here but do note that Chanchlani is famous for throwing random cusses, so we suggest you watch it with a pair of headphones on. As of writing this article, the video is currently on the number 3 spot on YouTube’s trending list, in India. Right from the get-go, Chanchlani takes a jab at alm...
Michelle Yeoh in Star Trek: Section 31. | Image: Paramount Plus It’s the first week of December, and the end of the year is coming in fast and with a lot to look forward to at theaters this month. That very cool-looking Lord of the Rings anime hits US theaters on the 13th; Sonic the Hedgehog 3 follows on the 20th; and I’m deeply excited to see Nosferatu on December 25th. (If you’re not with me on that last one, give Matt Zoller Seitz’s RogerEbert.com review of it a read and get back to me.) While I’m waiting to go be unnerved by Robert Eggers’ new spooky vampire movie, let’s take a look at some good trailers from the last week. Star Trek: Section 31 I’ll admit that the biggest appeal for me about this straight-to-streaming spy movie spinoff of Star Trek: Discovery is Michelle Yeoh as Emperor Philippa Georgiou. She’s just having so much fun in this trailer. The trailers haven’t revealed yet what threat she’ll be facing, other than being forced to do teamwork, but it see...
Earlier today, French publisher, Nacon held their online digital event, Nacon Connect, to give an insight into their upcoming titles and hardware that they were working on. Unlike other gaming events up until now, this one was a standalone event. Meaning, it was not part of the Summer Game Fest. The event had some super cool announcements including RiMS Racing - a motorcycle simulation game with tons of customization options coming out in 2021, Roguebook a roguelike deck-building card game, Tennis World Tour 2 and Warhammer: Chaosbane coming to the next-gen consoles. On the hardware side, Nacon announced new upcoming peripherals in partnership with RIG and Microsoft. With that out of the way, let us now take a look at the games that were revealed at Nacon Connect: Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong The first reveal comes from Big Bad Wolf Studio, who announced the all-new story-driven choice-based RPG game, Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong. In the game, you play as 3 vampires, each...
