Meta might charge for a future AI model

Meta's next AI model could mark a change in its "open source" AI strategy that Mark Zuckerberg had called "the path forward." Currently, the company is working on a new AI model, code-named Avocado, that it might charge for access to, Bloomberg reports.

Last year, Meta launched its open source (depending on who you ask, since the Open Source Initiative disagrees) Llama 4 AI model, but it had a disappointing release, with Meta caught gaming AI benchmarks and being forced to delay a planned "Behemoth" version. But Zuckerberg scrapped that "in pursuit of something new," Bloomberg says.

Trailers of the week: Star Trek, Severance, and Gundam

Everything We Got Out Of Nacon Connect

Earlier today, French publisher, Nacon held their online digital event, Nacon Connect, to give an insight into their upcoming titles and hardware that they were working on. Unlike other gaming events up until now, this one was a standalone event. Meaning, it was not part of the Summer Game Fest. The event had some super cool announcements including RiMS Racing - a motorcycle simulation game with tons of customization options coming out in 2021, Roguebook a roguelike deck-building card game, Tennis World Tour 2 and Warhammer: Chaosbane coming to the next-gen consoles.
