Airtel reduces post-plan expiry incoming call validity to 7 days

If you are an Airtel prepaid customer, there is some not-so-exciting news for you. The telecom operator has reduced the incoming call validity for its prepaid customers who don't have an active plan from fifteen to seven days. To elaborate, if your current prepaid plan has expired, you could previously receive calls for up to 15 days without needing another recharge. That duration is now down to 7 days. This is being done by Airtel to improve the company's Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). According to Telecomtalk, the ARPU of Airtel is higher than that of Reliance Jio. It isn’t clear whether similar changes have been made by other telecom companies, like Vodafone Idea.

Back in 2018, both Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea introduced a new scheme called ‘Minimum Recharge.’ In the Minimum Recharge scheme, a prepaid customer needed to recharge their service with a minimum of Rs 35 every month. This would enable them to make and receive voice calls. If a customer failed to make the recharge, outgoing calls were immediately barred but incoming calls were active for a period of 15 days. With the new changes, the plan has now changed and incoming calls will work for only 7 days after the expiry of a prepaid plan.

If you are looking to recharge your smartphone or are looking for a plan that gives you data and calling as per your needs and are confused about the right prepaid plan, then you needn't worry. We have a comparison that takes a look at all the popular plans on offer from various telecom providers from Rs 200 all the way up to Rs 500. You can check out our plan comparison here.
